Middle School : Nurturing Independent Thinkers

With deep expertise in adolescent development, the educators at Lausanne Collegiate Incheon understand how to meet the unique needs of Middle School learners. This is a time of profound physical, emotional, and cognitive growth, calling for both high expectations and meaningful support. Our program is designed to be both challenging and empowering, guiding students to strengthen academics, build confidence, and develop essential life skills.

At this stage, students are ready to engage with complex ideas, ask deeper questions, and take greater ownership of their learning. Through interdisciplinary studies in English, Mathematics, and Science, along with collaborative projects and real-world applications, they develop critical thinking, resilience, and self-advocacy. History courses encourage them to connect past and present, while Science Projects offer opportunities for inquiry and experimentation.

Students also explore global themes such as identity, culture, innovation, sustainability, and justice. Chinese language study and Thematic Music broaden their cultural perspective, cultivating empathy, global awareness, and a sense of shared responsibility. Student voice and agency are emphasized through group inquiry, service learning, and public presentations—inviting them to step beyond their comfort zones and pursue excellence with integrity.

Our teachers serve not only as subject experts but also as mentors, challenging students to go further while providing the care they need. Middle School at Lausanne Collegiate Incheon is not simply preparation for high school, but a dynamic, identity-shaping chapter where students build the mindset, skills, and character that will carry them into the future with confidence and conviction.

More Than Academics: Our Middle School Experience

  • Field Trips : Students in the Middle School participate in one field trip each school year, visiting a unique location in Korea. These experiences help students develop independence, social awareness, and real-world connections. Through shared experiences outside the classroom, they learn to take initiative, build stronger peer relationships, and reflect more deeply on their learning.
  • Co-Curricular Classes : These programs give students the opportunity to deepen their passions, try new things, and grow as well-rounded individuals both inside and outside the classroom. Afterschool offerings include: Arts & Expression, Sports & Wellness, Academic Enrichment & Strategy, Culture, Service & Leadership
  • Student Showcase : Students take part in a variety of annual events and presentations such as the Costume Parade, Lausannia Winter Concert, Science Fair, and Art Fair. These programs not only bring joy and excitement to school life, but also give students meaningful opportunities to apply what they have learned in class. Through these events, they develop confidence by performing or presenting in front of others, strengthen their communication and collaboration skills, and gain a deeper sense of pride and ownership in their learning.
  • Technology : Students from Grade 2 to Grade 10 use IXL, an online learning platform that offers over 9,000 personalized practice problems and activities across subjects such as math, English, science, and social studies. For students enrolled in AP courses, Study.com is used to support learning in subjects like Language, AP Biology, Pre-Calculus, World History, and Psychology. Additionally, students in middle and high school use Google Classroom to submit assignments, access learning materials, and receive feedback from teachers.
  • Scholastic Challenges : Through programs such as the Mid-term Project, Capstone Project, and Final Exams, students develop essential academic skills like research, critical thinking, and time management. These experiences help them take greater ownership of their learning and prepare with confidence for future academic challenges.
